Screen Genius ("we") runs the Screen Genius app, the parent dashboard at app.screen-genius.com and this website. This policy explains what we collect, why, who we share it with and how to delete it. Questions: support@screen-genius.com.
What we collect
- Parents: name and email from the Google account used to sign in; the parent PIN (stored only as a salted hash); notification preferences; the family's settings and rules.
- Children: a name or nickname, age and grade, as the parent enters them. Children don't sign in with an email or a Google account — their phone is paired with a one-time code.
- Child's phone: how long each app is used, the list of installed apps (so the parent can set per-app limits and choose free apps), lock and permission status, and the device's time zone.
- Learning: quiz and game questions, the child's answers, points, coins, levels, prizes and tasks.
- Agent Shield (only while on): when on-screen text matches the parent's word list, the word, up to 50 characters around it and the app name.
- Technical: Firebase sign-in identifiers and notification tokens, used to deliver notifications and remote commands.
- Payments: handled by Paddle (web) or Google Play (app). We receive the plan or pack bought and a customer or order ID — never card details.
On the child's phone
Screen Genius measures how long apps are used; it doesn't read messages, photos or browsing history, and it doesn't record the screen. Agent Shield uses Android's accessibility service: on-screen text is checked on the phone against the parent's word list, and only a match is sent to the parent. The parent can turn Agent Shield off in the dashboard. The same service keeps the lock screen on top while the phone is locked.
How we use AI
Quiz questions are written by Google Gemini, which receives age, grade, subject, difficulty and language — never the child's name. To grade a written answer, Gemini receives the question and the child's answer. The weekly report for parents is written by Gemini from totals (screen time, top apps, quiz results) with the child's name replaced by a placeholder.
Who we share data with
- Google Firebase / Google Cloud — stores the data and runs our servers.
- Google Gemini — writes and grades questions, as described above.
- Paddle and Google Play — process payments.
- Cloudflare — website hosting services and cookieless visit counts.
- Other parents in your family that you invite see the same family data.
We don't sell data, show ads, or use advertising or tracking SDKs. The app has no ads.
Children's privacy
Screen Genius is used by children under a parent's account and with the parent's consent: the parent creates the family, enters the child's details and installs the app on the child's phone. We collect only what the service needs and never contact children directly. A parent can see, change or delete the child's data at any time.
How long we keep data
Old history is deleted automatically: notifications after 7 days; quiz sessions, requests and alerts after 30 days; daily totals after 90 days; weekly reports after a year. More on the Safety & privacy page.
Your choices and rights
Removing a child in the dashboard deletes that child's data at once. You can delete your whole account — family, children and history — in the app or the dashboard: Delete your account. To get a copy of your data or to correct it, write to support@screen-genius.com; we answer within 30 days. Data is encrypted in transit and at rest.
Our website counts visits with Cloudflare Web Analytics, without cookies. Messages sent through the contact form are kept only to answer them. We'll post any change to this policy here with a new date.
